There were no amazing villains from 2017, but my favorite from games I played was The Radiance from Hollow Knight. It was really interesting gradually learning about it in bits and pieces, Dark Souls style.

Worst villain has got to go to Kelley from Nioh.

I definitely share Mulaka and Monster Boy from that list. I’m cautiously optimistic about Mega Man 11, but we’ll see how Capcom handles it.

I’ve only played Cuphead from that list and the game is amazing. The looks speak for themselves and the challenge was really enjoyable.

Lost Sphear I didn’t enjoy the demo to be honest but I’m always open to be proven wrong

My pick for a villain this year is Brahman from Gravity Rush 2. While he’s not the “main” villain, his motivation is very human and in a way relatable until he decides to implement his plan.

Another great heroine that deserves a mention is Aluche from Nights of Azure 2. She was really likeable and while she didn’t evolve all that much she managed to find common ground with everybody else on the cast and her determination in the face of the Moon Queen was very admirable.

I would have to give my award to Kat from Gravity Rush 2. She faced many challenges including the doom of the entire world, but she still managed to help the little people with mundane tasks. From the same game the sacrifice Raven had to make was also enormous and she could be an excellent protagonist for a future game.

Strangely enough I didn’t play many games with male heroes that left an impression on me, so I’ll give the award to Knack. Not sure if he qualifies, but he managed to save the world a couple of times in a rather heroic way.

In reply to Star Magician. Both are pretty good. Forces made some weird choices when it comes to tone, but it has decent gameplay and I quite like the avatar system.

I could easily put half the Persona 5 soundtrack on here. If I had to choose, I’d go with “Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There” just from the fact that it pumps me up to save the world from liars and fakers.

Ah, so those review quotes were for a Nintendo Selects of ALBW after all… I know it was the case, but I still sort of wished for a port for the Switch. XD
