Edelweiss and Marvelous have announced Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, a spin-off of the hit action and farm simulation game, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. The spin-off follows Kokorowa after she meets a peculiar automaton named Takebina. Meet new gods and tackle this new adventure as Sakuna’s friend, Princess Kokorowa!

Kotobukiya has produced many Trails series figures as of late, including for characters such as Estelle Bright, Rean Schwarzer, Tio Plato, and more. In addition to these already released characters, they are also currently working on figures for Joshua Bright and Elaine Auclair. Now, a new character from the Calvard arc will be joining the figure lineup. Shizuna Rem Misurugi, known as the Divine Blade of Silver, will be receiving her own figure. While not much has been shown of her figure, Kotobukiya has shared sneak peeks of the prototype. You can check those out below.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak was published by NIS America in the west and launched on July 5th, 2024. Its sequel, Trails through Daybreak II, is currently scheduled to launch in the west on February 14, 2024. The latest game in the series, The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria-, launched in Japan on September 26th, 2024.

During the STEINS;GATE 15th Live -One World-, an event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the visual novel, a new title was announced. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a remake of the original visual novel, is scheduled to release in 2025. It will be based off the original visual novel, not the more recent Elite release, and will feature new graphics and additional story. The visual novel’s original character designer, huke, returns to work on RE:BOOT.

During a special screening to celebrate the anime’s 1st anniversary, a second season was announced for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. MADHOUSE returns to produce the anime, and the second season’s story will start from chapter 61, volume 7 of the original manga.

It aired from September 2023 to March 2024 and Crunchyroll streamed the series in North America.

Seven Seas Entertainment have licensed Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya for release in English. The manga is written by Hiroshi Hiroyama and is a spin-off of TYPE-MOON’s Fate/stay night visual novel. Prisma Illya has two sequel series: 2wei! and 3rei!! As of today, 3rei!! is still ongoing.

Seven Seas Entertainment provides a synopsis for the manga and is as follows:

Illya might be rich, but she’s just like any other elementary school girl—she has a secret crush and loves magical girl anime. But when a magical “Kaleidostick” wand named Ruby tricks her into signing a contract, Illya becomes a magical girl herself! Illya’s peaceful days might be over, but her fight to save the world has only just begun.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Freedom Wars, Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced a remaster titled FREEDOM WARS REMASTERED. It will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on January 10th, 2025. The original game was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Japan Studio alongside Shift and Dimps for PlayStation Vita and launched in 2014.

At Aniplex Online Fest 2024, a TV anime adaptation for The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku) was announced. The anime is an adaptation of Saka Mikami’s romance manga of the same name which is published in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket. CloverWorks will produce the anime and it is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

Dynamis One has decided to cancel their upcoming title, Project KV, shortly after releasing their promotional video (PV) for it. The company cited their inexperience among other things for the project’s cancelation. Jae (Fkkcloud), the director at indie developer Studio Sai, has announced that their debut indie title, Eternights, has sold 200,000 units. In celebration of this huge milestone, a Nintendo Switch version has been announced. It is scheduled to launch on October 17, 2024, and pre-orders are open now.

During the June 18, 2024 Nintendo Direct, Capcom announced the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. It includes two Ace Attorney spin-off games starring Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit. The first Investigations game launched in the West for Nintendo DS. Investigations 2 was also available on Nintendo DS, however this title did not receive an official release in the West, but now fans overseas will get the chance to play this title. The collection will be available digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also have a physical release on Nintendo Switch.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection features HD visuals and redrawn character sprites by the series’ original character designer. In addition to the redrawn sprites, players will also have the option to switch back to the classic pixel sprites. That’s not all, the collection also features text and voice-over options for seven languages including English, Japanese, French, German, Korean, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese (Mandarin).

NIS America has announced a demo for their upcoming release, The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak. The demo will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, and it is scheduled to release on June 4th. The PlayStation 4 demo will also be available on PlayStation 5. Demo save data can be carried over to the game’s full version once it launches on July 5, 2024. Unfortunately, a demo will not be available for PC players.

The anime will begin airing May 24, 2024 at 0:00 AM UTC (May 23 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT) on the Blue Archive Global YouTube channel. The North American stream will have English subtitles.

Aksys Games has announced an official launch date for their localization of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ on Nintendo Switch. This port will have all extras added in the PS4 version, include all previously released DLC, and will feature an updated localization. It is scheduled to launch on July 25, 2024 in the west. The game was previously thought to release in June due to the February announcement trailer’s description.

Aniplex has announced that the artbook included in the PlayStation 4 physical limited edition for the English release of TSUKIHIME -A piece of blue glass moon- will have two modified pages. The artbook will not be altered for the limited edition on Nintendo Switch.

Aniplex went on to state that while the artbook would be altered for the PlayStation 4 release, the game itself will not be altered for both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions.

This isn’t the first time something has been altered due to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s policies. Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal had an entire game mode removed prior to its release on PlayStation 4. Not even more well known titles were safe, as Devil May Cry 5 was also hit with extra light censors in its western PS4 release, though those were eventually removed. This, however, is an interesting situation as Aniplex is owned by Sony Music Entertainment Japan, which is under the same parent company (Sony) as Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). It appears other companies under the Sony umbrella are not exempt from SIE’s publishing policies.

A new mobile game in the Madoka Magica franchise, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra, has been announced for release in 2024. The game is planned and distributed by Aniplex while Pokelabo and f4samurai will develop it. Pokelabo will handle the game’s operation. No other information on the game, such as its gameplay, story, and staff, have been announced at this time.

Aniplex and f4samurai previously worked together on another Madoka mobile game, Magia Record. Magia Record is currently still in service in Japan while its North American server ended service in 2020. Pokelabo is known for their work on the now shutdown mobile game, SINoALICE.

Ahead of the game’s launch on April 26, 2024, SHIFT UP took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and assured players that Stellar Blade would be uncensored in all countries, including Japan. This is certainly great news as sometimes games would have to be edited to meet certain guidelines, whether it be by a country’s rating organization (such as the ESRB, PEGI, or CERO) to meet a certain age rating, or even by the console’s parent company. Being able to get through all that regulatory red tape and still come out with the game uncensored for every country is quite the achievement, and Shift Up should be proud.

If you’re interested in the game, a demo is currently available to download on the PlayStation Store. You will be able to carry over your save data from the demo to the full game once it launches.

A demo for upcoming action-adventure game, Stellar Blade, is now available to download for free on PlayStation 5. The demo will allow players to play up to the first boss fight. Those who complete the demo will be able to carry their save data over to the full game when it releases on April 26.

Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online II, the follow up to the 2018 Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online TV anime, will begin airing in October 2024. The main cast returns to reprise their roles, including Tomori Kusunoki as LLENN. Studio 3Hz also returns as the anime’s production company.

TYPE-MOON visual novel, TSUKIHIME -A piece of blue glass moon-, will release on June 27, 2024 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Previously, it was only known that the title would release sometime in Summer 2024, so this is welcoming news for fans that have been looking forward to the game’s release. TSUKIHIME -A piece of blue glass moon- is a remake of 2000 Windows PC visual novel, Tsukihime.

TSUKIHIME -A piece of blue glass moon- collects the two tales that make up the “Near Side of the Moon” portion of the original Tsukihime: Arcueid’s scenario, “Moon Princess,” and Ciel’s scenario, “Midnight Rainbow.”

Creator Kinoko Nasu has painstakingly disassembled and rebuilt the story, updating the setting to 2010s Tokyo and expanding the narrative. This reimagined presentation will exhilarate players with its hard-hitting tension and realism.
