Previously, the release date for Torment: Tides of Numenera had been set for the first half of 2015. However, in a recent update on the game’s Kickstarter page, Kevin Saunders, the project lead for the game, has announced that the game has been pushed back to Q4 of 2015. This is due to the late August release date set for Wasteland 2, inXile entertainment’s other ongoing Kickstarter-funded project. Early Access for Wasteland 2 has been highly successful, and so they’ve spent more time improving that and, as a result, the pre-production time for Torment has been extended. This means the team will be able to produced a higher quality game, but it also means that the game will have to be pushed back. Development of Torment will ramp up once Wasteland 2 is complete, and team members from that game switch over to working on Torment.
Torment: Tides of Numenera is an upcoming RPG developed by inXile entertainment. The game is a spiritual successor to the classic 1999 Dungeons & Dragons RPG Planescape: Torment, known for its dark setting and its focus on story, character interaction, and exploration over combat. The game will be set in Monte Cook’s Numenera campaign setting, and will be releasing for PC, OS X, and Linux. The game had a highly successful Kickstarter campaign that was fully funded within six hours of its opening.
Torment should be a treat for fans of Western RPGs and those who loved Planescape: Torment. For more information on Torment, check out our Crowdfunding Spotlight on the game. Be sure to stay tuned to oprainfall for more news on Torment!
